With the development of society, both daily life and industrial manufacturing cannot do without battery products, and the continuous development of cross-border e-commerce has greatly changed and facilitated people's consumption habits, making shopping no longer limited to local areas. What certification is required for the audit of battery products sold on the world's largest cross-border e-commerce platform?

In fact, different Amazon sites have different requirements for battery approval. UL standard certification is required in North America, while in the European Union, batteries in electronic and electrical equipment should meet the recycling requirements of the WEEE Directive and the hazardous substance limit requirements of the RoHS Directive.

North America

Firstly, the North American region generally refers to the United States and Canada. The battery product audit requires UL standard certification: applicable to North America, mainly for safety testing, and the certification cycle is generally about 2 months (lead-acid batteries are slightly shorter). UL is the drafting agency for relevant standards in the United States. If consumers purchase products with the UL logo and serious consequences occur due to product quality issues, they can complain and report the seller, and the seller can easily obtain compensation from insurance companies. Products sold through UL are relatively easy to sell in North America, which is to some extent the reason. Of course, UL is not the only certification body, and you can also find laboratories with relevant NRTL qualifications, such as ETL, TUV, etc., which can provide relevant UL standard certificates.

EU region

EU Battery Directive: Products with batteries entering Europe must meet the requirements of the EU Battery Directive; However, for batteries in electronic and electrical equipment, they should meet the recycling requirements of the WEEE Directive and the hazardous substance limit requirements of the RoHS Directive. In addition, it is necessary to comply with the REACH regulations regarding battery registration, hazardous chemicals, and other aspects. There are generally no mandatory regulatory requirements for the performance and safety of batteries, mainly referring to the EU's performance and safety standards for batteries. Now Amazon Germany requires products to have a WEEE before they can be listed.

Other regions

China: CCC has not yet carried out mandatory certification for battery cells, but for products with batteries, non mandatory testing content related to battery related CQC certification is required; Japan: Batteries need to comply with PSE certification; Korean related batteries require KC certification.
